Ms. Dawn DeMauro
I am honored to begin my 21st year in education and my third year as principal of Sawmills Elementary School. My career has spanned a variety of roles and grade levels, including teaching high school mathematics and business, fourth and fifth grade in elementary, and middle school social studies and language arts. I also served for five years as a middle grades instructional coach and later as a high school assistant principal, experiences that have shaped my instructional leadership and passion for student growth.
As a proud Sawmills WASP, I am deeply committed to our school’s vison: Strive for Excellence, Empower Learners, and Succeed Together. I believe that strong, collaborative relationships with students, families, staff, and the broader community are essential to creating an environment where all children thrive. I look forward to continuing these partnerships as we work together to support every learner.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family—including my two daughters, Ashtyn and Kendal, my son, Jerry, and our chocolate lab, Presley. I also enjoy traveling, reading, baking, knitting, music, outdoor adventures, and making memories with my grandchildren.
This year, our theme is “Learning is S’more Fun!” At Sawmills, we are committed to creating a joyful, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every child is empowered to grow, lead, and love learning!
